Summer Rugs

Summer Rugs Are Crucial To This Breathtaking Home In India

In the spectacular city of Hyderabad, a home born in a quiet mango orchard uses summer rugs to bring about an amalgamation of color and beauty. In this project, interior designer Sona Reddy was tasked with designing an 8,350 square foot family home for her clients in the city of Hyderabad, India, in a quiet mango orchard, where the mundane colors from everyday life take a step back to give the spotlight to more vibrant, yet simultaneously calming colors. “The curved walls and pink lime plaster surfaces feel soft and welcoming, not stark like a lot of modern homes. The oxide floors stay cool underfoot even in summer heat, and the cane panels do a great job filtering sunlight without blocking it completely.” –Sona Reddy– Interior designer She was determined to turn this home into more than a simple place for the family to live in; she wanted to go beyond and turn this home into a concept, something that became a synonym for calmness and unforgettable moments for this family. Summer rugs are a crucial part of how Reddy’s plan when it came to making this home feel cozy and welcoming, ready to take in a family, along with her usage of other colors, which make for a mixture of vibrant tones and more calming ones. Summer rugs are only a small part of the process of turning this home into what Reddy had envisioned, as a lot of the effort would be focused on what furniture and decor should be used, as well as what colors, shapes, and textures should be chosen to help make the home like the calming, yet endearing, haven that it was meant to become. This living room, for example, exemplifies how impactful summer rugs can be at making a home feel much more soothing and vacation-like, and in this case, the rug’s colors are being matched marvelously with the rest of the colors in this room, more notably the deep purple on the sofa, and the earthy tones in the rest of the room’s furniture. All throughout the home, Reddy wanted to make sure that everywhere felt different, yet coherent and all a part of something grander, which meant that the summer rugs would, of course, be different from room to room, some of them would be a bit more elegant and colorful, while other ones, like the one we see here, would be a bit more minimalistic. The rug in this room matches the artworks being used here, as well as the furniture that is being used, which mostly uses earthy tones and elegant shapes, while keeping the same relaxing vibe that Reddy wanted to maintain throughout the home, through the usage of minimal, comfy sofas and minimalistic tables and furniture. Summer rugs come in all types of shapes, sizes, and colors, and Reddy masterfully chose which to use, whether or not to use them, depending on the room, as well as which type of rug should be chosen to match the room’s specific demands in terms of space, color, ambience, etc… Moving on to the bedroom, we can see a resemblance between the summer rugs that were used in the living room and the one that is being used here, as this one has a very similar pattern and texture, although it features much warmer colors than the other one. This rug’s colors match the soft pink tones we see in the room, particularly in the bed and he headframe, yet the more neutral grays and beige colors we see in the room are also being wonderfully matched by the rug’s colors, giving the room an overall feel of a true symphony of different colors and emotions. This bedroom is meant to provide whoever has the pleasure of staying here with a cozy place to rest and relax, along with a divine opportunity to sleep or simply take a nap after a long afternoon going around the home’s surroundings. This home in Hyderabad, India, is a fantastic example of how to use summer rugs to create an advantageous ambience that fits with your own lifestyle and tastes, such as in this case, for example, where Sona Reddy had to adapt to her client’s needs as a family and create a cozy, colorful environment. If you felt inspired by Sona Reddy’s use of summer rugs in this project, consider looking into Tapis Studio‘s rug collection for rugs adequate for all types of projects. Earthy Tones: The 5 Best Projects That Will Inspire You

Do you love earthy tones but need inspiration? If so, take a look at some of our best projects using earthy tones that are sure to inspire you. 1- Modern Manhattan Living This project, by Hendricks Churchill, was made for a young family that wanted to transform their modern Manhattan high-rise apartment into a warm and welcoming home by incorporating minimal furniture and architecture, with more contemporary pieces to make a truly unique home. This apartment features plenty of different and uncommon pieces, which makes the entire apartment blossom with life and personality, and the earthy tones help make all these different pieces of decor and furniture come together and complement each other. The apartment feels like a mix of many different emotions that work oddly well with each other, like more sophisticated and elegant aesthetics, with more colorful and minimal ones, which makes it feel that much more unique and personal. 2-Luxury Retreat When thinking of the word “comfort”, one of the first things that might come to mind is a bedroom such as this one, or at least that’s what this project by ALDO&ALDO seems to be showcasing, through its majestic use of green, beige, brown, and grey tones, paired with Tapis Studio’s Menizia rug as the centerpiece. This room has a pretty minimalistic aesthetic, which goes along beautifully with the earthy tones that were chosen for this bedroom, which all contribute to giving a nice, calm vibe to the whole room. Besides focusing on making a calm bedroom, where it’s almost impossible not to lie down and take a nap, ALDO&ALDO wanted to make the room feel clean and sophisticated as well, using decor elements such as the small painting that hangs above the bed, the circular bedside tables, and the smooth marble pieces. 3-Armadelle II Home This project, done by the famous interior designer Simone Haag, had the main purpose of restoring a heritage home while highlighting the 1870s narrative and influence, while simultaneously maintaining the home as a modern piece through the usage of contemporary pieces. By incorporating earthy tones as the main color palette for this project, Haag made it so that pieces like Tapis Studio’s Rug Design Shaped #30, and the rug in the entryway could stand out. The remainder of this home features darker colors, although they still fit in the earthy tones color palette we have previously seen, keeping the minimal furniture and decor we have seen before, yet adding a few contemporary and bold pieces to make the entire home feel a bit more unexpected and unique. 4-Fenwick House Interiors In yet another one of her projects, Simone Haag designed a warm clash between the modern design style and mid-century modern architecture, resulting in this charming home, where earthy tones and smooth textures live in harmony. Unlike the other projects we’ve seen so far, Haag used earthy tones to create a coastal-style home, with a mixture of plenty of different themes and colors, most notably Tapis Studio’s Shaped #038 rug, which brings the whole coastal feel to this home, making this home feel unique and special. The decor is also very whimsical and exceptional, in a way that every piece feels different and is in its own little world, yet also manages to complement each other in a way that truly brings out the nautical feeling that Haag was aiming for. 5-Homey & Marvelous Villa As for this project, done by Fatemah Alshruaian for this stunning villa in Kuwait, it was envisioned for them to create a dreamlike home, where black and beige colors could work together in a harmonious collusion, with the aid of stones, soft fabrics, and a loving juxtaposition of pre-owned and modern decorative objects. Earthy tones are the core of the project’s color palette, much like in the projects we have seen so far, leaning into the calming and relaxing vibes created by the usage of these colors. The minimal and contemporary furniture helps make this living room look like a mixture of different ambiences and feelings, especially a mixture of feelings of elegant relaxation, with feelings of an almost rustic approach for some pieces of furniture, such as the sofa. And with that, we concluded our list of the 5 best projects that will inspire you on how to more optimally use earthy tones to decorate your home. If you consider starting a new project where earthy tones will make a notable appearance, consider looking into Tapis Studio‘s options for earthy-toned rugs.

Earthy Tones Turn A Home Into A Soulful Retreat From Stress

Find out how this home in Austin turned into a relaxing retreat from modern life’s stress by using earthy tones to blend with its natural surroundings. Among a pervasive cluster of centuries-old live oaks in the city of Austin, Texas, a hidden gem lies calmly upon the land, leading a calm yet endearing sight, inviting everyone who passes by to take a moment to gaze upon this true masterpiece of a home, which uses earthy tones to blend in with its surroundings’ ambience. The homeowners, a young professional couple, were rewarded for their patience with this project’s development with a unique and inspiring house, thanks to the beautiful combined work of the architect couple, Megan and Frank Lin, along with the help of interior designer Ann Tucker, home builder Brent Fannin, and landscape architect Brian Pearson. “Designing this home within the trees was a powerful experience. We needed the house to float above the sensitive root zones, so we mapped the trunk diameters and set up critical root zones based on city rules— we also needed to map the trees’ arms, which go everywhere” Frank Lin- Architect The usage of earthy tones in this home is a clear attempt to make this home feel more in tune with its unique and natural surroundings, calming, natural tones such as brown, beige, and black, to make the home feel relaxing and perpetually connected to nature. The dining room, for example, is a great way to acknowledge a feeling of minimal serenity that the home is supposed to emanate, which matches and complements beautifully the emotions that the earthy tones we previously discussed are meant to transmit as well. The choice of earthy, wooden textures on the chairs, along with the smooth, black table, makes the room feel calm and refined, and the painting on the white wall makes the room feel much more sophisticated and connected to an artistic element. In the living room, brown, earthy tones are much more prevalent and end up becoming more of a centerpiece to the room, capturing our attention immediately upon entry, bringing out that close-to-nature feel we have been talking about. The impressive use of a complementary rug gives a more vibrant vibe to this living room, while simultaneously keeping the room calm, yet also a bit endearing through the usage of slightly contrasting colors, such as the clear white used in the furniture and decor. The beautiful rug we talked about before is used to make a soothing transition between the living room and the kitchen, even though the kitchen uses much darker, earthy tones, which make for a slight difference between these two rooms. The kitchen itself is very simple and minimalistic, choosing to focus on functionality and practicality over other elements, although it still manages to use earthy tones to look clear and soothing, matching the home’s overall aesthetic and vibe. There aren’t any notable complementary elements like the rug we see in the living room, although there are still a few elements that serve as decorative elements, such as the flower vase and the plants we see on the balcony. In the bedroom, earthy tones are still the main color palette, although a much more bold and unexpected approach was chosen for the bedroom, choosing much more unique pieces such as the round painting on the wall, paired with the small, yellow glass coffee table, and the brown leather chaise longue, which is beautifully matched by the textured brown rug. The bed itself is very simple, yet it still matches the room’s aesthetic perfectly, leaning into the brown bedside table’s feeling of sophisticated comfort, which makes the bedroom feel that much more like a place to rest and spend some time relaxing and resting up for the next day. This room has a bit of a different aesthetic from the rest of the home, namely because of its usage of a more artful rug with unique patterns and colors, although earthy tones are still a centerpiece of the home’s main vibe, which was maintained in this room through the furniture and decor. The brown sofa is being paired with a grey blanket and a dark-green towel, which also contrasts neatly with the darker-toned brown chair that lies atop the aforementioned rug, which also serves as a means to create a contrast through the usage of color. Did you feel inspired by the usage of earthy tones in this home in Austin? If so, make sure to explore Tapis Studio‘s extensive in earthy rugs, ready to be used for your next interior design project.
